JEAN-MARC CAFÀ APPOINTED AS THE NEW DIRECTOR OF THE BARN ACADEMY, CIRENCESTER

The Barn Theatre’s renowned Academy has appointed a new Director. Jean-Marc Cafà will take up the new post with immediate effect.

Jean-Marc trained at the Guildford School of Acting, UK where he was awarded both the McGrath Citation Award for Talent and the Entrepreneurship Award. He has performed in various plays and musicals in the UK and overseas.

In 2011, Jean-Marc managed the implementation of ZiguZajg, Malta’s first international arts festival for children and youth. Between 2011 and 2013, Jean served as the Artistic Director for SOPA (School of Performing Arts by Drama Troupe) and oversaw the youth programmes run by Spazju Kreattiv. He also served as Vice President of APAP from 2012 to 2014. He moved on to found Studio 18 in 2013, an organization for performing arts training and creative learning, for which he has served as creative director since. Jean-Marc is currently also a consultant for Creative Learning at San Anton School.

A passionate learner, Jean-Marc is currently reading an MEd at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and has kept his practice fresh by means of professional development courses in Europe, across he various sectors and arts disciplines.

Exciting future developments for the Barn Academy – Future Collaboration with Studio 18 Malta

The Barn Theatre has embarked on a new journey with Studio 18 Malta- this exciting venture aims to develop an exchange of practices and the Barn’s commitment to arts education, outreach and the community. Together, the two establishments will be working to strengthen quality, accessibility and holistic learning. As part of this initiative, the Barn Theatre and Academy will be looking into opportunities for cultural and student exchanges, as well as internship programmes.
