Not many people know that The Barn Theatre is an unsubsidised charity and that we rely on the generosity of our supporters to fund our original productions, community work and free ticket schemes.
MAKE A ONE-OFF DONATION
- £15 could fund a child from a high-pupil-premium school watching a dedicated Christmas performance via our Play it Forward scheme
- £25 could fund an isolated older person visiting the theatre via our Big Neighbourhood Watch scheme
- £50 could fund a costume made from scratch by our in-house creative team
To make a donation, you can either click on the button below or add a contribution when you book a ticket.
OUR FREE TICKET SCHEMES
PLAY IT FORWARD
This is our community initiative, developed to allow EVERYONE an opportunity to access quality theatre, regardless of income, health or age. Your donations to our Play it Forward scheme have funded thousands of theatre visits from isolated older people and local state schools.
In 2024 we are expanding the initiative to include cancer patients and those suffering with chronic pain and mental health problems.

BIG NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Starting in 2024, we are launching a new scheme called The Big Neighbourhood Watch, where we encourage our Barn community to bring a friend or neighbour, who wouldn’t otherwise be able to come to the theatre, to watch a show WITH THEM. Perhaps an older person who lives alone, or a single parent who could do with a night off. These ‘Big Neighbourhood Watch’ tickets will be available for £0 on our booking page, and valid Monday—Wednesday for the first three weeks of each show run.
You can support The Big Neighbourhood Watch scheme by:
- Bringing someone in need of some community support to a show, marked ‘Neighbour’ on our booking page
- Telling your friends what we’re doing, in person and via social media
- Making a donation of one or more tickets to allow people most in need of a boost, to experience the magic of theatre
Last year we raised over £22,500 from your collective one-off donations. Thank you! For a more ongoing relationship with us, please consider becoming a Friend of the Barn, or even a Patron.
