Creative Collaborations

Talk to us! The Barn doors are open for creative collaborations, ranging from new scripts to co-production partnerships.

The Barn has always been creatively led and commercially driven.

Being small means we can take creative risks and put innovation at the heart of our productions. And the fact that we’ve built our business from scratch with no statutory funding means we’ve always had to be expedient in our operations and ambitious in our commercial ventures.

We would love to hear from you if you’d like to work together.

Opportunities for Collaboration

Receiving Shows & Pitches

Although we have historically developed all our shows ‘from page to stage’, we invite producers to pitch shows for The Barn to receive, working on a financial split basis and/or in partnership. The right show is the right show!

Co-Production Partnerships

We would love to collaborate with other theatres to
co-produce some of our shows. See our case study of how we worked with The Theatre, Chipping Norton on Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense, which played at The Barn and Chipping Norton and went on to tour nationally.

Independent Producers

The Barn has become an attractive partner for some of the leading independent producers in the UK. Working on a coproduction or enhancement basis, several of our shows have gone on to have successful future commercial lives, which is win-win for The Barn Theatre charity and our commercial partners. We have experience of working on enhancement deals and welcome the opportunity to explore this business model further. See our case study of how we collaborated with Mark Goucher Productions and Bob Benton of Bob & Co on Sorry Prime Minister I Can’t Quite Remember.

Barn Productions on Tour

The Barn Theatre has dabbled in small scale touring since opening. We now realise the important role our productions could play in the UK touring eco system and it has become a priority for us to develop a larger scale ‘Beyond The Barn’ operation to hit the midscale and number one touring circuit. Our productions of Jeeves & Wooster, Some Enchanted Evening, The 39 Steps, The Importance of Being Ernest and Sorry Prime Minister have all had successful touring lives beyond The Barn. See our case study of The 39 Steps.

Writers, Musicians & Other Creatives

As a producing-house theatre, we build many of our shows from the ground up. We love to work closely with artists, from script writers to composers and other creatives. We understand the process of enabling talent to produce their very best work, aiming towards the common goal of getting the best out of a story. See a case study of how we developed The Mozart Question with Michael Morpurgo, young local composer Rudy Percival, and emerging writer Vicki Berwick.

Digital Productions & Behind The Barn Door

We have been at the forefront of digital theatre and film making since taking all of our creative work online in the 2020 lockdown, and investing in first-class media facilities. See a case study of how we worked with the Lawrence Batley Theatre and New Wolsey Theatre on a digital production of What a Carve Up!

Our new podcast studio and editing suite is also now open for business. We welcome enquiries and pitches for shows and collaborations.
